Author Interview

Q.  Why did you write Jack & Mack in the Quest for the Sword of Fire?

A.  I wanted to write an adventure book that I could give my elementary age son to read and not have to worry about the content being scary or just plain yucky.

Q.  What genre is the Sword of Fire?

A.  Apologetics Fiction.  This is an emerging field of fiction that honors a literal interpretation of the Holy Bible.  Essentially I wrote a fictional story based on the fact that the Book of Genesis in the Holy Bible is historically accurate. I want readers to come away from reading my book with a thirst for reading the Bible for themselves.

Q.  What is the time period for the Sword of Fire?

A.  I call it the First Age of man.  It begins in 472 AC (After Creation).  I figure 400 or so years is enough time for people to have built up some sort of fairly sophisticated civilization before the Flood of Noah.

Q.  Why that time period?

A.  I’ve always wondered how Adam gave his testimony.  How would he look his grandchildren and say, “See that Sword of Fire?  We don’t have eternal life because Eve and I sinned against God.”  This fictional story grew out of answering that question.

Q.  What is the setting for the Sword of Fire?

A.  Eden.  We know from Holy Scripture that there was a Garden of Eden.  In my fictional Tales of Eden, Eli and Esther live on a peninsula that juts out into the Eden Sea called Eli’s Land. Their home is called the House of Esther. To the west is their son Daniel’s Lands of Neer.  To the east is their son Draco’s Lands of Noor. These lands are known collectively as the Known Lands.  Far away to the south in the Unknown Lands is a dormant volcano called Neth. Supernaturally sinister giants called the Nethog dwell here.

Q.  What is the story about in the Sword of Fire?

A.  It’s about Jack and Mack.  They are firstborn heirs.  When they turn twelve, Jack goes on a pilgrimage to see the Sword of Fire and Mack goes on a quest to steal Daniel’s staff.

Q.  What can a person expect from the Sword of Fire?

A.  Dinosaurs and plenty of adventure.  I do give the plan of salvation in the book.  You will not find gore or sorcery or inappropriate intimacy or any other super disgusting stuff.

Q.  Is there anything else you want people to know about the Sword of Fire?

A.  I just want you to read and enjoy the book.  Think about what it says and come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  He died for you and wants you to join Him in heaven someday…and that’s no tall tale.  That’s the Gospel Truth.
